To be fair, that’s a pretty believable headline. If Tilda Swinton started a glam rock band tomorrow, she’d be the biggest music star on the planet in a matter of seconds. That’s sort of the space she occupies in the trailer for A Bigger Splash, which reunites her with the director of I Am Love for a new dramedy that features Swinton basically playing a female version of David Bowie, by the looks of it.

Swinton stars as rock-n-roll icon Marianne Lane, whose relaxing island vacation becomes a little less relaxing with the arrival of her ex-romantic partner (Ralph Fiennes) and his daughter (Dakota Johnson). There’s something intriguing about the idiosyncratic tone in this trailer, with Fiennes’ upbeat, fast-talking record producer and the up-tempo music clashing with Swinton’s laid-back listlessness.

Luca Guadagnino directed the film, which also stars Matthias Schoenaerts (Bullhead, The Drop):

In A BIGGER SPLASH, rock legend Marianne Lane (Tilda Swinton) is recuperating on the volcanic island of Pantelleria with her partner Paul (Matthias Schoenaerts) when iconoclast record producer and old flame Harry (Ralph Fiennes) unexpectedly arrives with his daughter Penelope (Dakota Johnson) and interrupts their holiday, bringing with him an A-bomb blast of nostalgia from which there can be no rescue. A BIGGER SPLASH is a sensuous portrait of desire, jealousy and rock and roll, under the Mediterranean sun.

A Bigger Splash hits theaters on May 13.
