‘A Most Wanted Man’ Trailer: More Tinkering With Spies

Director Anton Corbijn’s ‘A Most Wanted Man,’ adapted from ‘Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy’ author John le Carre’s novel, will soon be released in the US by way of Lionsgate, but for now we have to settle for a Spanish-subtitled trailer of this psychological thriller.

Filmed back in 2012, ‘A Most Wanted Man’ will premiere at this year’s Sundance film festival (January 19), featuring a cast that includes Philip Seymour Hoffman as German security official Gunther Bachmann, who’s suspicious of a Chechen-Russian immigrant who enters Hamburg under what Bachmann believes are unusual circumstances. It’s kind of like ‘Homeland‘ in a sense, except Hoffman doesn’t give horrid Claire Danes “cry face.” Rachel McAdams, Willem Dafoe and, yes, that’s ‘House of Cards‘ star Robin Wright all joining Hoffman for the affair.

Sundance officially describes the film as such:

Anton Corbijn’s adaptation of John Le Carre’s psychological novel follows German spy Gunther Bachmann as he tracks down Issa, a suspicious Chechen-Russian immigrant on the run in Hamburg. Pressured by his German and American colleagues to capture and interrogate his suspect as a Muslim terrorist, Bachmann instead asks for more time to carefully track Issa’s movements and his relationship with his German immigration lawyer, Annabel Richter. Using his secret contacts and keen skill, Bachmann uncovers a connection between a world-renowned Muslim philanthropist and a terrorist group and devises a plan to use Issa and Annabel in a brilliant ploy to expose the scheme.
