Released in 1987, 'Adventures in Babysitting' became an instant comedy classic. The film follows Chris (Elisabeth Shue), a teen who is ditched by her boyfriend and volunteers to babysit, unwittingly setting herself and her charges up for the most memorable and wacky night of their young lives. It's hard to believe the film was released 25 years ago, so join us as we take a look back at the cast of the film and see what they're up to now.

Then: 'The Karate Kid' star Elisabeth Shue played Chris Parker, a teen girl who is ditched by her boyfriend and decides to babysit a couple of kids, leading them on a crazy adventure involving criminals, a shootout, and unexpected romance. Shue landed the role after Valerie Bertinelli,  Michelle Pfeiffer, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Jodie Foster, and Justine Bateman all turned it down.

Now: In the 90s, Shue reinvented herself with a startling turn in the 1995 drama 'Leaving Las Vegas,' which earned her an Academy Award nomination for best actress. She recently starred in the films 'Chasing Mavericks' and 'Hope Springs,' and is a regular on 'CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.'

Then: Maia Brewton, who made her big screen debut as Sally Baines in 'Back to the Future,' played Sara Anderson, one of the kids Chris is babysitting. Her character is memorably obsessed with Mighty Thor.

Now: Brewton went on to star in the television series 'Parker Lewis Can't Lose' and appeared in '21 Jump Street' and 'The Wonder Years.' After 'Parker Lewis,' Brewton left mainstream acting to focus on a theater career and attend Yale. Brewton is now an attorney and married her partner, Lara Spotts, in 2008.

Now: Coogan went on to star in another cult classic babysitter film -- 'Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead.' He currently hosts a podcast and has been involved in two short films about his life. In 2012, he starred in the indie film 'Waking.'

Now: Rapp went on to star in 'Dazed and Confused' and 'Six Degrees of Separation' (he also starred in the stage version of the latter). He's perhaps best known for playing Mark Cohen in the original stage production of 'Rent' -- a role he would reprise for 'Adventures in Babysitting' director Chris Columbus, who directed the film version of the famous play.

Then: Along with 'Revenge of the Nerds II: Nerds in Paradise' and 'Young Guns II,' 'Adventures in Babysitting' was one of Bradley Whitford's earliest film roles. In the movie, Whitford plays Mike, Chris' jerk boyfriend who cancels their anniversary date.

Now: Whitford is well-known for roles in the Aaron Sorkin television shows 'The West Wing' and 'Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.' He starred in last year's amazing horror comedy 'The Cabin in the Woods,' and can be seen next in 'CBGB' and 'Saving Mr. Banks.'

Then: Vincent D'Onofrio starred in two films released in 1987: 'Full Metal Jacket,' and 'Adventures in Babysitting.' Hard to believe, considering how different he looks in both of them. In the latter, he played Dawson, a mechanic whom Sara believes to be the Mighty Thor.

Now: D'Onofrio is one of our most talented character actors. Known as a chameleon, he has appeared in films like 'Men in Black' and 'The Cell,' and the TV series 'Law and Order: Criminal Intent.' He can be seen next in 'Escape Plan' with Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
