‘Back to the Future’ Trilogy Heading Back to Theaters for 30th Anniversary
Just yesterday we told you about the amazing Back to the Future trilogy box set hitting shelves later this year to commemorate the original film’s 30th anniversary. But now there’s an added gift for fans of the franchise: Universal is bringing the entire trilogy back to theaters this fall. Where we’re going, we don’t need roads — just comfy theater seats.
The news was lost somewhere in the press release for the Blu-ray box set (hat tip to Slashfilm), which hits shelves on October 21, the same day that Marty McFly and Doc Brown went back to the future in Back to the Future II. That’s also the day that the trilogy will hit theaters, although a list of locations and times have not yet been revealed.
In the meantime, you can start saving up your cash for that very cool box set, which features all three films and the ‘90s animated series, among other goodies.
And if you’re really itching to watch the trilogy again, AMC is screening all three films this Sunday, July 19 in honor of the franchise’s anniversary. The network will kick things off at 11:00 a.m. ET / PT with Back to the Future, followed by Back to the Future II at 1:30 p.m. ET / PT and Back to the Future III at 4:00 p.m. ET / PT. At 6:00 p.m., the network will show an encore screening of the first film.
