Ben Affleck was a surprise winner for Best Director at the 2013 Golden Globes for his work on 'Argo' but sadly it's a win that won't be repeated at the Oscars.

Even though Ben Affleck wasn't nominated in the Best Director category at the 2013 Oscars, the actor-director was a surprise win at the 2013 Golden Globes, beating out the likes of Kathryn Bigelow ('Zero Dark Thirty') and Quentin Tarantino ('Django Unchained').

The crowd at the 2013 Golden Globes seemed to really be happy for Affleck and he got a mini-standing ovation from the audience. Affleck himself looked a little confused when his name was announced, probably not expecting much since he wasn't even nominated for an Oscar.

The actor thanked the film's cast, wife Jennifer Garner and his friends who stood by him when he was a "nobody" and then when things weren't going so well.

It was a great win for Affleck and that makes his 'Argo' Oscar snub that much more noteworthy.
