Comic-Con 2012 Saturday Schedule: 'Man of Steel,' 'Iron Man 3' and More

Warner Bros.

The full schedule for Comic Con 2012 continues to trickle out and the day's events for Saturday, July 14th have been revealed.

And you thought Friday was busy! This must be one of the most intense and jam-packed days we've ever seen...and we're just looking at the movie and TV events! If you're attending this year and want to check out the film, television and comic panels, you better have priorities. This is an embarassment of geeky riches.

There are some real heavy-hitters on the schedule. Will Smith's new sci-fi movie, 'After Earth.' Quentin Tarantino's 'Django Unchained.' SyFy's 'Alphas' and 'Warehouse 13.' 'Once Upon a Time.' 'Futurama.' 'The Vampire Diaries.' 'True Blood.' You know...just some of the most popular and anticipated shows and movies out there right now.

And then there are two real heavy hitters. Marvel Studios will be attending with 'Iron Man 3' and Warner Bros. will be presenting footage from 'Pacific Rim,' 'The Hobbit' and the mystery-cloaked superman movie 'Man of Steel.' This is a big moment for Zack Snyder's take on Clark Kent and his all-powerful alter ego. Can a seemingly exhausted character spring back to life before a packed Hall H? Warner Bros. is certainly hoping so.

We haven’t yet seen frame one of Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s AMC take on Garth Ennis’ infamous Preacher, and already the pair might have an eye on another notable comic adaptation. The Superbad duo might next shop an adaptation of Ennis’ superhero-policing The Boys, potentially for cable.

Robert Kirkman’s Cinemax ‘Outcast’ Gets Seriously Gross in First Clip

by Kevin Fitzpatrick 2 hours ago
Over the weekend, Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman’s new Cinemax venture Outcast scared up a fresh trailer for its 2016 debut, but those in attendance of the New York Comic-Con panel were treated to something much more indicative of the show’s creep factor: Gird your stomachs, and have a gander at the unsettling first clip for Robert Kirkman’s Outcast.

Fox Lands Sci-Fi Disaster Script ‘Ascension’ for Matthew Vaughn

Universal Pictures
Because the world contains a finite number of graphic novels written by Mark Millar, and because everyone’s gotta eat, money-in-the-bank filmmaker Matthew Vaughn is in the process of striking a deal with 20th Century Fox to direct a new project based on a fresh script that the studio purchased extra-specially for him.

‘12 Years a Slave’ Writer John Ridley Directing Feature About 1992 L.A. Riots

Back in April, we reported that in-demand screenwriter John Ridley had been caught in Marvel’s web of cross-promotion, inking a deal to develop a TV show that would spin off a key property from the already-popular Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. program. The specifics of that project still have yet to take shape (though we’re all keeping our fingers crossed that the M.O.D.O.K. solo show America so richly deserves will soon come to pass), but today brings news of a new endeavor for Ridley with no less social import. The Academy Award-winning scribe of 12 Years a Slave has announced that he will take the director’s chair once again to helm a feature about the notorious 1992 Los Angeles riots catalyzed by Rodney King’s savage beating at the hands of the LAPD.

A remake of Road House is a little questionable, but when you throw UFC badass Ronda Rousey into the role originated by Patrick Swayze, things get a bit interesting. And things just got a whole lot more interesting as the project has found an unlikely director in Nick Cassavetes, son of iconic director John Cassavetes and director of…The Notebook. Of all things.

‘Kingsman 2’ Filming Officially Delays ‘Robin Hood: Origins’

20th Century Fox
A couple of weeks ago we learned that Fox was planning on moving ahead with the sequel to Kingsman: The Secret Service, with writer / director Matthew Vaughn currently working on the screenplay. There was just one tiny issue: Kingsman made a leading man out of Taron Egerton, and his commitment to starring in Robin Hood: Origins for Lionsgate was causing a bit of a conflict. It seems that the conflict has been resolved, but unfortunately for Lionsgate, their Robin Hood movie is going to have to wait.

CBS’ ‘Supergirl’ Finds its Non in ‘Transporter’ Star Chris Vance

Warner Bros. / TNT
Fall TV has already brought us an avalanche of superheroes from The Flash to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., leaving Supergirl the outlier with an October 26 premiere. Still, Superman’s cousin isn’t shy about beefing up her power pack, adding Transporter TV series star Chris Vance in the role of Kryptonian villain “Non.”

Charlize Theron’s Awesomeness Inspires Gender-Swap for Action Thriller ‘The Gray Man’

by Britt Hayes 17 hours ago
Warner Bros.
It’s not unheard of for a film to change the gender of its leading role to accommodate an actor. Salt was originally intended as a vehicle for Tom Cruise before they simply changed the protagonist’s name for Angelina Jolie to star, and Sigourney Weaver’s iconic Alien hero Ripley was famously conceived as a man. You can add another cool gender-swap to the list, as Charlize Theron is in talks to join action thriller The Gray Man, playing a role that once attracted Brad Pitt.
