Yippie-Ki-Yay, Here Are 10 ‘Die Hard’ Facts

EDIT
|

Before he was cast in Die Hard, Bruce Willis was known primarily as the star of ABC’s TV comedy Moonlighting, so he wasn’t the first person Hollywood thought of to star in their big action movie. In fact, before they offered Willis the role, they actually approached Arnold Schwarzenegger hoping to turn Die Hard into a Commando sequel. This is just one of the Die Hard facts in the latest installment of You Think You Know Movies!

Schwarzenegger wasn’t the only other actor to get a call. Because Die Hard was based on the book Nothing Lasts Forever, which was a sequel to The Detective, a 1968 movie starring Frank Sinatra, Fox was contractually obligated to offer Sinatra the role of John McClane. Sinatra, who was in his 70s at the time, turned the part down.
