Tom Cruise is stuck in a seemingly endless cycle of running away from explosions while trying to save the world ... and that's the plot of his latest film, too! The new 'Edge of Tomorrow' trailer sees the veteran action movie star in another sci-fi world, only this time he can't die.

Imagine 'Groundhog Day,' only replace Bill Murray with mecha-Cruise and set him against the backdrop of a futuristic world being invaded by time-manipulating aliens. That's the main gist, but there's also a ton of action, familiar faces like Bill Paxton and Emily Blunt, and a batch of Cruise-worthy catchphrases -- "Live, Die, Repeat" apparently being the most tagline appropriate.

For more details, here's the official synopsis from Warner Bros.:

Major William Cage (Cruise) is an officer who has never seen a day of combat when he is unceremoniously dropped into what amounts to a suicide mission. Killed within minutes, Cage now finds himself inexplicably thrown into a time loop—forcing him to live out the same brutal combat over and over, fighting and dying again…and again.

But with each battle, Cage becomes able to engage the adversaries with increasing skill, alongside Special Forces warrior Rita Vrataski (Blunt). And, as Cage and Rita take the fight to the aliens, each repeated encounter gets them one step closer to defeating the enemy.

Also included amongst the cast, though not featured in the 'Edge of Tomorrow' trailer, are Noah Taylor, Kick Gurry, Dragomir Mrsic, Charlotte Riley, Jonas Armstrong, Franz Drameh, Masayoshi Haneda and Tony Way, though chances are you're more familiar with the film's director, Doug Liman, the same guy who helmed 'The Bourne Identity' and 'Mr. and Mrs. Smith.'

'Edge of Tomorrow' hits theaters this June 6.
