It doesn’t matter if the film’s press tour is going badly, or if stars Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson possibly have no chemistry whatsoever (or compared shooting sex scenes together to arduous, uncomfortable work). ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ is going to be an enormous hit when it opens this weekend regardless, and in this climate, enormous hits get sequels whether earned or demanded or not.

MTV says the big news was announced last weekend at a ‘Fifty Shades’ screening in New York City attended by Dornan, Johnson, director Sam Taylor-Johnson, and author E.L. James. The quartet told the assembled ‘Fifty’ fans, known collectively as Greybies (okay I made that up, but let’s make it a thing), that both ‘Fifty Shades Darker’ and ‘Fifty Shades Freed’ would both be coming to theaters in the near future. So hooray! More bondage movies for all!

Does this bode well for the first film? Might the stars have chemistry after all? One can hope. ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ opens in theaters this Friday, just in time for Valentine’s Day. See it with someone you love this holiday weekend.
