Honestly, I’m not sure this trailer was even necessary. Everything we needed to know about Kingsman: The Golden Circle was present in last week’s teaser, provided you were willing to go frame-by-frame through the video, take countless screenshots, and form some grand narrative in your head. I watched the trailer in realtime and even I was able to learn that there’s… Julianne Moore? And she works in a… pie shop? Or maybe a bowling alley? She was definitely wearing a bowling league shirt, I figured that much out at least. Unless that wasn’t Julianne Moore? Honestly, the video was a little fuzzy and I couldn’t…

You know what, fine, yes, we did need today’s full trailer. You got me.

Although this trailer seems to ask more questions than it answers  —  like why does Pedro Pascal look so gosh-darn cool in everything he does? — it does seem to answer one big question from the last film. Colin Firth is back-back, no trickeries or clones or doubles. The eyepatch in his final scene suggests that Firth’s Harry Hart was indeed shot in the head in the last movie, but he survived, and now (impossibly) he’s even more badass than before. Bringing Firth back might be a forced plot point in the new movie, but he’s the lifeblood of this franchise. It’s good to see him.

Here’s the official plot synopsis:

In Kingsman: The Golden Circle, our heroes face a new challenge. When their headquarters are destroyed and the world is held hostage, their journey leads them to the discovery of an allied spy organization in the US called Statesman, dating back to the day they were both founded. In a new adventure that tests their agents’ strength and wits to the limit, these two elite secret organizations band together to defeat a ruthless common enemy, in order to save the world, something that's becoming a bit of a habit for Eggsy...

In addition to the stars mentioned above, Kingsman: The Golden Circle will return Taron Egerton, Mark Strong, Halle Berry, and one crazy stylish Channing Tatum. You can catch the film in theaters on September 29.
