While the next-gen console wars have only just begun, Google may finally be readying its own entry into the Android console marketplace. Ouya and GameStick had better watch out.

Sources close to the situation told the Wall Street Journal Google was planning an Android gaming console of its own following the success of Ouya at retail. Though the internet mega giant refused to comment on the rumor, its believed the move is coming in anticipation of Apple announcing its own gaming device later this year.

Additionally, Google is reportedly wrapping up development on the latest version of its Android OS (Key Lime Pie), and could ostensibly launch the console in conjunction with that software release. The WSJ also reported Google was readying an Android smart watch, too, but there are no details on just how functional a wristwatch will be for gaming or other Android applications.
