Though 'Pacific Rim' is still months from being released, director Guillermo del Toro has already lined up his next project, 'Crimson Peak,' which returns him to his more horror-centric roots. And word is that Emma Stone might be the first actor to sign up for del Toro's haunted house movie.

This comes from Variety, and it's worth noting that 2013 is going to be a make or break year for del Toro. He's been working in the margins of Hollywood for years, delivering a successful sequel to 'Blade' and the modestly profitable 'Hellboy' films, but he passed on helming 'The Hobbit' films for the chance to deliver his big summer event film 'Pacific Rim.' And that film is quite a risk for everyone involved, as -- though he's respected (and possibly worshiped) by genre fans -- del Toro has yet to make a movie that's made over $100 Million at the box office.

That said, it's no surprise that after spending so long on 'The Hobbit' and 'Pacific Rim' that he wants to do a small genre picture. But as he can now get people like Emma Stone to appear in these movies, we'll see how small the film ends up being. 'Crimson Peak' is set to begin shooting in early 2014.
