Everyone knows Harry Potter’s most famous distinguishing mark: The lightning bolt scar on his forehead. But do you know how many times Harry Potter himself, Daniel Radcliffe, had that scar applied to his forehead over the course of making the eight Harry Potter movies? All told, it was over 2,000 times. That works out to about 250 applications per movie. That’s just one of the cool Potter facts featured in the newest episode of You Think You Know Movies!

Radcliffe went through plenty of wands too; more than 80 over the course of the films. He also used 160 pairs of Harry Potter’s signature glasses. (Don’t ask us why he needed so many; we have no idea.) Although David Yates, who had directed the previous two Harry Potters officially signed on to return for the Deathly Hallows, other names considered for director included Pacific Rim filmmaker Guillermo del Toro. That would have been a very interesting Harry Potter, but it’s hard to argue with Yates’ results; the final Deathly Hallows became the highest-grossing movie in entire Harry Potter franchise, earning over $1.3 billion worldwide.
