Though the awards haven't been handed out yet, one of the most buzzed about films at this year's Cannes is Leos Carax's 'Holy Motors.' Most of the reviews have described the film as nutty (putting it politely), and it's surely one of the contenders for the big prizes. Now there's a trailer, check it out...

Denis Lavant stars as a hit man, and that's about all we can tell from the trailer. There seems to be motion capture studios, and roles for songstress Kylie Minogue, and hollywood star Eva Mendes. And there seems to be at least one musical number in the middle of the film.

This is Carax's first movie since 'Pola X' in 1999, and the French filmmaker has a passionate following, though has mostly remained under the radar stateside. If this film gets the Palme d'Or, then it will surely play theaters in America (even if past winners have received cursory releases) and hit the festival circuit, though from all accounts it's way too out there for Academy voters. If it fails to net any big prizes, then it's likely a Magnolia-type studio will pick it up, and it will mostly be seen through streaming. But after all the good word, we can't wait.
