‘House At The End Of The Street’ Trailer Follows All the Horror Rules

House at the End of the Street
Relativity Media

Before Jennifer Lawrence can shoot people with a bow and arrow in the ‘Catching Fire‘ sequel, she first has to escape what looks to be another generic ghost story movie. ‘House at the End of the Street‘ is hitting theaters this fall and a brand new trailer was just released.

Before we watch the trailer, let’s do a checklist and make sure this teen horror/thriller/whatever follows the default teen horror rules of Hollywood:

Innocent hot teen/Troubled hunky youth? Check.

A dark past that comes to light? Check.

Concerned mother who stands around? Check.

Angry ghost girl who in reality would get her face punched in by anyone over the age of 12? Check.

Sitting in car/window scare scene? Check.

Not going to watch this on opening weekend? Double check.

So what exactly is this film all about?

Seeking a fresh start, newly divorced Sarah (Oscar(R)-nominee Elisabeth Shue; Leaving Las Vegas, Piranha 3D) and her daughter Elissa (Oscar(R)-nominee Jennifer Lawrence; X-Men: First Class, Winter’s Bone) find the house of their dreams in a small, upscale, rural town. But when startling and unexplainable events begin to happen, Sarah and Elissa learn the town is in the shadows of a chilling secret. Years earlier, in the house next door, a daughter killed her parents in their beds, and disappeared – leaving only a brother, Ryan (Max Thieriot, My Soul to Take), as the sole survivor. Against Sarah’s wishes, Elissa begins a relationship with the reclusive Ryan – and the closer they get, the deeper they’re all pulled into a mystery more dangerous than they ever imagined.

Oh, OK. ‘House at the End of the Street’ opens in theaters on September 21st, 2012. Take a look at the super scary trailer below. Don’t say we didn’t warn you!
