James Franco is asked often if they'll ever make a 'Pineapple Express 2' and for the first time we have an answer that sounds like a sequel to the 2008 hit is a lot closer than we think. The actor gives us our best update yet on 'Pineapple Express 2' and also lets us know that we'll never see a sequel to 'Your Highness,' a movie he says "sucks."

While talking to Franco for the upcoming horror-comedy 'This Is the End,' GQ got the actor talking about some of his previous comedies. He loves 'Pineapple Express' and when asked (again) why a sequel isn't in the works, Franco had this to say about why there hasn't been any movement on a 'Pineapple Express 2':

As far as why Pineapple Express 2 has not been made for real, I don't know what the holdup is. I would do it, Danny [McBride] would do it, Seth [Rogen] would do it. I think Seth and Evan [Goldberg] just need a fire lit under their asses.

And we'd be all for that. We're of the opinion that 'Pineapple Express' is genius, particularly Franco's performance as Saul the lovable stoner. Sure Franco was nominated for an Oscar for '127 Hours' but it's his work in 'Pineapple Express' that launched him (rightly so) into an A-list career.

The problem with a 'Pineapple Express 2' is likely that Seth Rogen would love to star in the sequel but probably would also want to write it (as he did with the original), something he very likely doesn't have time to do. What's interesting is that Franco didn't mention anything about the film's director, David Gordon Green. And that might be because if there's a 'Pineapple Express 2,' Green wouldn't be asked to return.

When asked about their last collaboration, Franco had this to say about Green's 'Your Highness:'

'Your Highness?' That movie sucks. You can't get around that.

Yes, it does and no, you cannot. We had heard rumors back when the movie came out that Franco hated the movie and was partly responsible for burying it but this is the first we can remember him publicly coming out and admitting it was no good.

So where do you stand on this? Do you want to see Seth and Franco reteam for a 'Pineapple Express 2' or should they let the original stand on its own? Do you disagree and think 'Your Highness' was good? Let us know below!
