If there’s any recent movie that seems like an endlessly renewable resource, it’s John Wick. Just get the eternally youthful Keanu Reeves, give him some reason to be mad (in the first movie he had a dead dog to avenge), about 300 mobsters to shoot in the head, and let ’er rip for 95 minutes. Next year’s John Wick: Chapter 2 looks to continue the hitman’s saga with another journey into the dark underbelly of the world of assassins.

With cute dogs! Lionsgate has released a couple new photos from the production, including one of Reeves’ title character walking on a bridge with a new pooch, one that’s a little bit bigger than the poor little beagle puppy that got murdered in the first movie. There’s also a shot of Reeves in a club, looking quite dapper in his suit and patchy Keanu beard.

I enjoy that the movie is called Chapter Two, as if this is all part of a slowly unfolding master plan that we all just haven’t realized yet. I also like that the number two is spelled out, because John Wick is a classy dude. The film’s official synopsis:

Keanu Reeves returns in the sequel to the 2014 hit as legendary hitman John Wick who is forced to back out of retirement by a former associate plotting to seize control of a shadowy international assassins’ guild. Bound by a blood oath to help him, John travels to Rome where he squares off against some of the world’s deadliest killers.

Stop forcing John Wick out of retirement, shadowy international assassins’ guilds! Or wait, actually keep forcing him out of retirement. I want more of these movies. John Wick: Chapter Two opens in theaters on February 10, 2017.
