A couple of weeks ago Straight Outta Compton star Corey Hawkins joined the cast of Kong: Skull Island, which has recently been diversifying its lineup with Samuel L. Jackson also in talks to co-star. Today brings news that Skull Island will feature a mini-Straight Outta Compton reunion, as Jason Mitchell has also joined the cast.

Variety reports that Mitchell is heading to Skull Island with his Straight Outta Compton co-star Corey Hawkins. Mitchell played Eazy-E opposite Hawkins’ Dr. Dre in the recent N.W.A. biopic, which has absolutely dominated the box office in its first two weeks of release. Mitchell also starred in Broken City and Contraband, and appears next in Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele’s comedy film Keanu.

Plot details for Kong: Skull Island remain vague, though the film will take us to the legendary home of the iconic movie creature — in Kong mythology, Skull Island is home not only to the king of the apes, but to many prehistoric creatures and several other species that should be extinct.

Mitchell joins a cast headlined by Tom Hiddleston and Brie Larson, with Samuel L. Jackson and John C. Reilly also in talks for key roles. Jordan Vogt-Roberts is directing the film, with Jurassic World screenwriter Derek Connolly recently coming on board to polish the screenplay.

Kong: Skull Island heads into production this October in Hawaii and is scheduled to hit theaters on March 10, 2017.
