It's usually better to come out of the Cannes film festival with raves, or hopefully awards, Walter Salles' 'On the Road' at least left Cannes with some heat - though part of that was due to Kristen Stewart's nude scene. There's no release date just yet, but there is a new international trailer.

The film has an all star cast that includes Sam Riley, Stewart, Garrett Hedlund (who may yet redeem himself for 'Tron: Legacy'), Viggo Mortensen, Terrence Howard, Elisabeth Moss, Amy Adams, and Kristen Dunst, and got mostly positive reviews out of the festival. It's based on the classic Jack Kerouac novel, and it's been a project that Hollywood has been trying to do for decades. You never know if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

Here's the synopsis:

After the death of his father, Sal Paradise, an aspiring New York writer, meets Dean Moriarty, a wild and infectiously charismatic ex-con. They hit it off immediately. Determined to avoid the pitfalls of a narrow, prescribed life, Sal hits the road, joining Dean on what evolves into a life-changing physical and emotional odyssey. Thirsting for freedom, they discover the world, the ecstasy of experience, the connectedness of humanity and ultimately themselves.
