There are a lot of highly complicated moves in Magic Mike. But, despite the degree of difficulty, Channing Tatum never once used a stunt double. All those backflips, grinds and spins were all his moves. Not bad, but when you consider Tatum himself used to be a male stripper, it all makes sense. This is just one of the facts packed into the latest episode of You Think You Know Movies, which backs up on ya with Magic Mike.
Channing Tatum was’t the only one to bring it Magic Mike. Star Matthew McConaughey’s character originally wasn’t supposed to dance at all in the movie, but the Oscar-winning actor asked that a scene be written in despite having never danced professionally or in a movie before in his life. During his scene, an extra posing as an audience member got too aggressive and pulled at his G-string until it snapped and McConaughey had to run off stage, covering his crotch with his hands. And, of course, that was the shot used in the movie.
