Even More ‘Avengers’ Images Highlight Earth’s Mightiest Heroes

We’re calling this latest batch of ‘The Avengers’ images The Reaction Shots. Each hero in Joss Whedon’s upcoming superhero blockbuster gets to glare at … well, something. We don’t really see what they are reacting to. But we do get an excellent shot of Loki (Tom Hiddleston) Tebowing.

My favorite, by far, has to be Chris Evans’ Captain America silhouetted against smoky ruins of what we assume is New York City (though Whedon, I believe, filmed in Cleveland). It calls to mind Chris Nolan's fantastic 'The Dark Knight' shot of Batman standing in the rubble of the building that once housed Maggie Gyllenhaal. And if Whedon's going to subtly call back to ANY film, 'Knight' is a pretty good place to start.

Everything that we’re hearing says that the scope of Whedon’s summer blockbuster is grand, and that this is the epic Marvel superhero fans have been waiting for. Until it opens on May 4, we’ll be analyzing screen grabs and commenting on reaction shots of our favorite heroes in Avengers garb. Do you have a favorite from the above images? Which one, and why?
