New ‘Expendables 2′ Images: Big Stars, Bigger Guns

‘The Avengers’ have assembled, while Spidey and Batman are about to drop. But that doesn’t mean Summer 2012 will be ready to pack it in. Action junkies bummed by the departure of ‘G.I. Joe’ can still look forward to a new ‘Bourne’ movie, as well as Sly Stallone’s ‘Expendables 2', which is shifting its marketing campaign into high gear.

The most recent poster featured a Hall of Fame of action-movie talent … as well as a massive fireball. That pretty much sums up the ‘Expendables’ formula: Familiar faces tossed into an explosion. Shake, stir, and serve.

But eight new images have reached the web (via ExpendablesPremiere.com), giving us good looks as Stallone’s various characters in action poses. Terry Crews with a rocket launcher. Dolph Lundgren with a semi-automatic machine gun. You know, you’re regular, run-of-the-mill, day in the life of an "expendable."

In addition to Stallone, director Simon West has to find room for the likes of Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Chuck Norris, Jet Li, Jason Statham, Liam Hemsworth and, our favorite, Jean-Claude Van Damme. Check out the photos below. ‘The Expendables 2’ is on its way. It reached theaters on Aug. 17.
