Another year, another game of musical chairs for the judges of the long-running 'American Idol.' Last month, it was reported that Mariah Carey would join mainstay Randy Jackson behind the table and today, it looks like there's a frontrunner for that last spot: Nick Jonas, AKA, one third of the Jonas Brothers.

Some meandering speculation was confirmed by Jonas himself, who informed his 4.6 million Twitter followers that he was in the running. His Tweet reads as follows...ahem:

The rumors are true...I am being considered to be a judge on American Idol, and it would be a dream come true if it happens. #nickonidol

At 19, he'd be the youngest judge in the show's history and he'll be allowed to live the ultimate teenage fantasy: to criticize people older than himself from a position of power while barely working and collecting a paycheck. Perfect!

Following the departures of Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul, 'American Idol' has desperately tried and failed to find lasting judges. Singer Kara DioGuardi only lasted two seasons and comedienne Ellen DeGeneres (who, let's be honest, really had no business judging a music competition) only lasted for one. Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler joined Jackson for the past two seasons, but they both jumped ship together. Considering the show's sliding ratings and the need to fill these slots with recognizable names, expect Jonas to get to the gig.

You've got to hand it to the Nick Jonas...it took Steven Tyler a lifetime to become washed up enough to judge a basic cable reality competition. This kid's done it in 19. Bravo!
