Christopher Nolan’s secret plans for his next movie didn’t stay so secret for long. Recently we learned about Nolan’s upcoming project: a World War II-era action thriller titled Dunkirk, which centers on the dangerous mission to evacuate soldiers in Dunkirk, France in 1940. It’s yet another ambitious project for Nolan, so it makes sense that the director would re-team with the cinematographer behind his last ambitious project.

The Film Stage reports that Nolan will reunite with Interstellar cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema, whose credits also include gorgeously-shot films like Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, Her and Let the Right One In. Hoytema’s work is incredibly artful, and having worked with Nolan on his previous film, he knows a thing or two about what the director wants. Nolan will be shooting on 65mm film and 65mm IMAX film, giving Hoytema a chance to really flex his muscles.

Dunkirk takes place in 1940 and centers on Operation Dynamo, a daring expedition to rescue the British Expeditionary Forces and allied troops from an impending German siege in France. The operation unfolded over eight days, and ultimately resulted in the rescue of 338,226 people.

Tom Hardy, Kenneth Branagh and Mark Rylance are in talks to join the epic wartime thriller, marking the third collaboration between Hardy and Nolan. As for the remainder of the central cast, Nolan is reportedly eyeing lesser-known actors for those roles. Dunkirk is slated to hit theaters on July 21, 2017.
