Coming off of a pretty successful weekend with his newest action flick 'John Wick' (number two at the box office isn't too shabby), Keanu Reeves is enjoying a rather nice period in his career -- and so are we. Following two well-executed action flicks in a row, Reeves will now return to the realm of sci-fi for his upcoming film 'Replicas,' which reunites him with his producer from 'The Matrix' trilogy.

Variety reports that Reeves will next star in 'Replicas,' based on a concept by Reeves and producer Stephen Hamel. Reeves will play a neuroscientist whose family is tragically killed in a car accident. In his desperate efforts to bring them back, Reeves' character faces off with a government lab, the police, and the laws of science.

Reeves will also reunite with producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura, who produced his films 'The Matrix and 'Constantine.' It's definitely great to see Reeves getting back into the realm of sci-fi, as he enjoys a nice career resurgence that's allowed him to choose his projects thoughtfully.

Chad St. John wrote the script for the film, which will be directed by Tanya Wexler, who previously directed the 2011 period film 'Hysteria.' St. John previously had two scripts on the Black List, scripted the 2012 short 'The Punisher: Dirty Laundry,' and has worked on the adaptation of 'Spy Hunter,' as well as a remake of 'Outlander.'
