Two years after a Kickstarter campaign was successful enough to get a 'RoboCop' statue erected in Detroit, the statue is almost complete. Want to check it out? Your move, creep! (Sorry, we couldn't resist.)

For a little background: In February 2011, a Kickstarter was forged to build a tribute to one of Detroit's most famous residents: RoboCop. (It all began with an innocent tweet to Detroit Mayor Dave Bing suggesting Detroit needed the statue as crucially as Philadelphia needs its ode to Rocky.) Well, the project achieved its target goal of $50,000 in less than two months. In fact, it's been surpassed - over $67,000 has been pledged to the RoboCop statue. And now it's almost complete. Peter Weller is most likely very proud.

Below you can see some photos of the 10-foot-high statue, which is still not quite ready yet, but looks like it will be ready to patrol the streets (not literally) next summer. The location where RoboCop will stand has not been revealed yet, but evidently there are several possibilities; right now he's off to Venus Bronze Works for his final touches.

The 'RoboCop' reboot (with 'The Killing' star Joel Kinnaman taking over for Peter Weller) hits theaters on February 7, 2014.
