Who would think that there would be competing Alfred Hitchcock bio-pictures? HBO's 'The Girl' focuses on the filming of 'The Birds,' Hitchcock (here played by Toby Jones) and his interesting relationship with Tippi Hedren (Sienna Miller) -- the star he tried to create. HBO's got this one, and it hits the small screen October 20. And now there's a teaser.

This film seems to focus on Hitchcock's controlling nature with his starlets. There's a number of rumors about his obsessive behavior, and from the teaser this film seems to dwell on that. There's a sense that comes from watching both 'The Birds' and 'Marnie' (the films Hedren made for Hitchcock), that the director was controlling her every movement and action on screen. That she was completely directed, so it should be interesting to see how they explore that relationship.

'The Girl' hits TV screens in the fall, but we'll have to wait until next year to see 'Hitchcock' which stars Anthony Hopkins as the director, and focuses more on the period in which he made 'Psycho.' What none of these filmmakers could know is that Hitchcock's 'Vertigo' was recently crowned the best film of all time in the Sight and Sound critics poll, though Hitchcock is one of the most respected directors ever to pick up a camera. We'll see who made the more interesting bio-pic shortly, but until then, here's a tease:
