With all of the big news coming out of Comic-Con this year, Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller's 'Sin City: A Dame to Kill For' seemed to get lost in the shuffle. Perhaps that's why the extended red band trailer that played in Hall H has made its way online, giving us our best look yet at the decade-in-the-making sequel.

Although the film takes its title from the second (and many would argue, best) volume of Miller's 'Sin City' comics, the movie is an intricate combination of old and new material, with various storylines taking place before and after the events of the first film. Characters who died in the first movie are still alive and kicking here. Events that were only alluded to last time around actually occur on screen here. As with the last film, the only thing more impressive than the visuals is the cast, which includes Jessica Alba, Powers Boothe, Mickey Rourke, Joseph Gorden-Levitt and Josh Brolin.

But can the film capture the lightning-in-a-bottle excitement that made the first film so well-liked? Or it it too late? Here's the official synopsis while you ponder that:

Co-directors Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller reunite to bring Miller's visually stunning 'Sin City' graphic novels back to the screen in 'Sin City: A Dame to Kill For.' Weaving together two of Miller's classic stories with new tales, the town's most hard boiled citizens cross paths with some of its more notorious inhabitants.

'Sin City: A Dame to Kill For' opens on August 22, 2014.
