The other day we brought you the exclusive first images and video from the set of Justin Lin’s Star Trek Beyond, featuring Chris Pine’s Captain Kirk, Anton Yelchin’s Chekov, Simon Pegg’s Scotty and newcomer Sofia Boutella’s mysterious new alien character. That video was yanked by Paramount, but the studio has allowed it to come back online, giving you the first real look at the highly-anticipated sequel.

As you can see in the video, Pine, Yelchin, Pegg and Boutella are filming a scene in front of a green screen, with Kirk and Boutella’s alien character emerging from a damaged spacecraft, with Boutella operating some sort of device before Chekov and Scotty exit the ship. Boutella’s character is of particular note — not only is her appearance incredibly striking, but she reportedly has a lead role in the film. You likely remember the actress from Kingsman: The Secret Service, in which she played Samuel L. Jackson’s knife-legged henchwoman.

The cast and crew were rehearsing and filming for about three hours on set in Vancouver, where they’ve mostly been shooting indoors and avoiding any spy photos or videos…until now. This scene was shot on an outdoor set, allowing us our first peek at what Lin and the cast are up to.

Below, we’ve included our gallery of exclusive images from the set, which show off some interesting new Starfleet uniforms and give you a better look at Boutella’s alien character, who seems to have teamed up with the Enterprise crew for this mission. We still don’t know much about the film, which also features Karl Urban, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana and John Cho reprising their roles along with Trek newcomer Idris Elba. Elba is playing a villain in the film, but as Pegg (who co-wrote the script) has previously revealed, he won’t be playing a character from established Star Trek canon.

Star Trek Beyond hits theaters on July 8, 2016.
