Director Ridley Scott has certainly come under quite a bit of fire lately for the white-washed cast of ‘Exodus: Gods and Kings’ and his explicit dismissal of his critics. But Scott isn’t letting the negativity get to him, as he’s still moving ahead and giving updates on two high-profile sequels: ‘Prometheus 2’ and ‘Blade Runner 2.’ In a new interview, Scott opened up about the plot of the former and the reassuring simplicity of the latter.

What a great day for dinosaurs who refuse to die! First a new ‘Jurassic Park’ trailer and now, via Variety, a report on the sequel to ‘Blade Runner,’ which has been rumored for most of the 30 years, since Ridley Scott released the original film back in 1982. Seems like every few months we get teased with the possibility of sequels to beloved films -- stuff like 'Hellboy 3' or a new 'Blade Runner.' While some of these films may or may not ever happen, a new art exhibit explores the idea of sequels that will probably never exist, including sequels to 'Fight Club' and 'The Rocketeer.' Sure, franchise fatigue is real and it's a problem, but this artwork sure does make these sequels seem mighty attractive.

Ridley Scott's science-fiction classic 'Blade Runner' may be more than 30 years old, but it still feels as fresh and exciting as it did upon release back in 1982. Perhaps that's why the current rights-holders (who acquired the name in 2011) are so fervent about creating a sequel -- it's a pre-built universe that feels like it's ready for dozens of additional stories. And with the news that a new writer has been attached to rewrite the script, it appears that we may be seeing a sequel sooner rather than later.
