The first Crimson Peak trailer is here and it showcases a side of director Guillermo del Toro that we haven’t seen in far too long. Before Pacific Rim and Hellboy and even the dark fantasy of Pan’s Labyrinth, he made horror movies. Now, del Toro has returned to the genre where he made his name and the first footage from the resulting film looks as gorgeous and creepy as you’d imagine.

It’s still not 100% confirmed that we’ll finally see Guillermo del Toro’s ‘Justice League Dark’ on the big screen—recently, the filmmaker confirmed that the script has been delivered to Warner Bros. and they’re just waiting on an official green light. But for those anxious to know which of the dark superheroes we might see in the film, the lineup has apparently been revealed.
FX’s ‘The Strain’ first played things close to the chest with some clever viral teasers, but the second season of Guillermo del Toro’s vampire horror-thriller will be all-out war. Watch New York burn as millions of Strigoi overwhelm the living in our first look at ‘The Strain’ season 2!
Just when you thought Guillermo del Toro might have had too much on his plate, from ‘Justice League Dark’ to ‘Pacific Rim’ sequels and FX’s ‘The Strain,’ the visionary director’s long-gestating ‘A Killing on Carnival Row’ may have returned to life. Amazon has begun eyeing the fantasy horror project as a new series, with del Toro in mind to direct the pilot.
Just a few weeks ago, we got our first official look at Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming ‘Crimson Peak’ via a photo of Jessica Chastain looking very romantically gothic. Today brings another look at the spooky horror flick with a photo of Tom Hiddleston. But he’s not the only interesting part of the photo—just take a gander at this huge, beautiful set. Can we get a trailer for this thing already?
While we all patiently await the sequel to ‘Pacific Rim,’ director Guillermo del Toro has been working on another pretty exciting project: ‘Crimson Peak,’ described as a ghost story/gothic romance period film that marks the first non-blockbuster film for the director in eight years. Although trailer for ‘Crimson Peak’ played at Comic-Con over the summer, it was never released online, which makes this first photo of Jessica Chastain your first official sneak peek.
The shared universe concept is wildly popular right now, thanks in large part to Marvel’s success with their cinematic universe. DC and Warner Bros. are trying to catch up, having announced a full schedule of comic book films through 2020 and taking a very similar approach (while basically viewing the TV counterparts of their big screen superheroes as separate, alternate entities). Guillermo del Toro recently completed work on his script for the ‘Justice League Dark’ film, which we assumed would function separately from the main WB superhero universe, but new comments from the director imply that his film will also be a part of WB’s larger shared universe plans.

When Guillermo del Toro last spoke about ‘Pacific Rim 2,’ we learned that the sequel would feature some—but not all—of the characters from the first film, and that he wanted to have the remaining characters appear by the end as a way to (hopefully) build to a third installment. And now we have a more detailed update from the director as the sequel takes shape and prepares to enter production, including more plot specifics and at least two characters who will definitely be returning for ‘Pacific Rim 2.’
Here's what we know so far: 'Pacific Rim 2' is scheduled to hit theaters in 2017, and director Guillermo del Toro has previously mentioned digging deeper into concepts like the Drift and the portal which allowed the Kaiju to enter our world. That's it! That's all we know. But now there's more: the director has spoken again, this time teasing plans for a trilogy.
