The Coen Brothers' 1998 film 'The Big Lebowski' has become a massive cult favorite in the 15 years since its initial release with its tale of a lifelong slacker known to his friends as The Dude. Thanks to an unfortunate case of mistaken identity, The Dude finds himself mixed up in the kidnapping of a millionaire's young girlfriend, further complicated by his hotheaded friend, Walter. Along the way he runs into a pornographer, some nihilists and a ferret on his quest to just, you know, be left alone to do his thing, man. Today, we take a look back at the cast of this beloved comedy classic and see what they're up to now.
Every prolific actor makes his or her fair share of bad films, and the legendary Jeff Bridges is no exception. However, 'R.I.P.D.' was not only a bad film, it was one of the biggest bombs of the summer, a very expensive film that didn't even come close to catching on with anyone. In an unusually candid interview, Bridges admitted that he's definitely in the majority in this case -- he is no fan of the film.
We're not entirely sure when Jeff Bridges officially became the go-to casting for "grizzled old mentor," but the 'Seventh Son' trailer shows him taking on that role yet again. In fact, the mere presence of Bridges elevates what otherwise looks like a fairly generic fantasy story into something that may be worth catching.
If you're going to borrow a formula, you might as well borrow the formula for one of the more successful franchises in recent memory. People have been jokingly calling 'R.I.P.D.' "'Men in Black' with ghosts" for some time now, and for darn good reason: it does look like 'Men in Black' with ghosts. Not that there's anything wrong with that. If you want us to see a movie where the great Jeff Bridges plays an undead cowboy hunting down stray spirits, all you have to do is tell us when to get in line. Anyway, two new banners for the film have arrived, and guess what? They too make 'R.I.P.D.' look like 'Men in Black' with ghosts.
A few weeks ago, the first trailer for 'R.I.P.D.' exploded on the 'net, prompting many to accuse the film of looking like a 'Men in Black' ripoff for substituting aliens with evil spirits. Now a new poster for the Jeff Bridges-Ryan Reynolds horror adventure has appeared, and... well, we're still thinking it looks a lot like 'Men in Black.'
This 'R.I.P.D.' trailer certainly seems to indicate that the supernatural buddy cop film is a lot like 'Men in Black' with a cranky Jeff Bridges standing in for a cranky Tommy Lee Jones and a wise-ass Ryan Reynolds filling in for a wise-ass Will Smith. Whether that's a good thing or not is up to you. Take a look at this new 'R.I.P.D.' trailer for yourself to decide.
Joseph Kosinski’s ‘Tron: Legacy’ wasn’t necessarily the sequel fans patiently waited nearly 30 years to see.
The convoluted sci-fi effort split critics right down the middle, earning a 50% Fresh grade on Rotten Tomatoes. But at the box office, ‘Legacy’ took in a healthy $400 million worldwide … enough to generate talk of a potential third installment. Which is exactly what ‘Legacy’ screenwriters Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz did while attending WonderCon in Anaheim.
