We've got even more 'Star Wars' goodies for you! Director J.J. Abrams is getting in on the action today with a very special "video selfie" with screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan, wishing fans a happy 'Star Wars' day from the set of 'Star Wars: Episode 7' in London, and he seems to be teasing some additional casting.
A couple weeks ago, Lucasfilm decided to change things up for its highly anticipated 'Star Wars: Episode 7' by switching out writer Michael Arndt for the combined efforts of J.J. Abrams and 'Empire Strikes' back writer Lawrence Kasdan on the screenplay. While this swap threw fans into a frenzy over whether or not this meant the film was in trouble, the director recently broke his silence over the matter.
There was much fanboy rejoicing when is was learned that Lawrence Kasdan was on board to write a new 'Star Wars' spin-off movie and consult on 'Star Wars Episode 7.' After all, this is the man who wrote 'The Empire Strikes Back,' a movie that isn't just the best 'Star Wars' movie, but one of the best science fiction movies ever made. Although the full details of whatever Kasdan is working on (a Yoda movie? Young Han Solo?) are buried in an underground bunker somewhere, he recently spoke about his involvement in the new films.
'Star Wars' rumoring isn't going to stop with just 'Episode 7' even if that picture hasn't signed a director or cast yet. On top of those rumors, we're now going to be hearing gossip about the entire next trilogy, and possibly all the spin-off movies after that. If the internet implodes on itself, it's going to be because of 'Star Wars.' Today's latest news: That they've approached Lawrence Kasdan and Simon Kindberg to write and produce Episodes 8 and 9.
