Let's be real: everyone wants to be in the new 'Star Wars' movies (well, except for Jason Statham), and that includes Marvel star Mark Ruffalo, who famously plays The Hulk/Bruce Banner in 'The Avengers.' While the cast for 'Star Wars: Episode 7' is already filled up, there's still hope for the actor to join 'Star Wars: Episode 8,' and he's already e-mailed his old buddy Rian Johnson to ask for a part ... any part.
How well do you think you know Marvel's 'The Avengers'? Did you catch the earlier appearance of that shawarma joint before the team had a celebratory chow down? Did you know the movie was initially three hours and 10 minutes? Well, we cover that and more in ScreenCrush's latest edition of 'You Think You Know Movies?'
Instead of one full-length 'Foxcatcher' trailer (which would traditionally run around 2:30), Sony Classics has been issuing one-minute teasers for the film. We've got another new teaser trailer today, which focuses on Steve Carell's role as John du Pont (you can watch the previous teaser, focusing more on Channing Tatum's character, below). It really is remarkable to see how Carell has not only changed his looks (those teeth, my god, those teeth), but also his cadence. With labored breathing and long pauses, it doesn't sound like Steve Carell at all.
It's inevitable: one day there will be an 'Avengers' reboot. It's hard to think of now, as 'Avengers 2' hasn't even hit theaters and Phase 3 of Marvel's Cinematic Universe hasn't even begun yet. But, once Robert Downey, Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans and Jeremy Renner all play through their contracts, Marvel is going to have to start over. Now, we don't think Marvel would ever reboot 'The Avengers' as a 70s detective TV series, but if they did? It'd look a lot like this...
We've heard rumors of a 'Planet Hulk' movie since early last year, but everyone from Joss Whedon to Mark Ruffalo have denied those claims. And, here's the thing: they're right (sort of). There won't be a Planet Hulk movie (sort of). But, it's what Whedon, Ruffalo and Marvel aren't telling you about the future of Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that prove there is some truth to the 'Planet Hulk' rumors after all. MAJOR 'AVENGERS 2' SPOILERS AHEAD!
In news that is equal parts exciting and "no, duh," 'Avengers 2' star Mark Ruffalo has revealed that the entire ensemble case of the highly anticipated superhero epic will be making an appearance at Comic-Con 2014. Considering the huge splash they made when they last appeared together to promote the first 'Avengers' film, this feels like a no-brainer.
After 2003's infamous 'Hulk' and 2008's forgettable 'The Incredible Hulk,' audiences simply weren't displaying any kind of affinity for Dr. Bruce Banner and his smash-happy alter ego. But actor Mark Ruffalo and writer/director Joss Whedon finally got it right in 'The Avengers' and now, according to Ruffalo, Marvel is finally considering giving the big guy a third shot at a solo act.
HBO's 'Game of Thrones' will take off this coming Sunday for Memorial Day, but HBO won't exactly shut down, instead airing Ryan Murphy's buzzworthy stage-adapted period drama 'The Normal Heart' in its place. The trailers have all sold us on the star-studded drama chronicling the AIDS outbreak of the '80s, but now HBO has released three brand-new clips to put things over the mark.
