Hmm…How best to describe David Ayer’s Bright…Well, in the words of the filmmaker himself, this is “really the story of a friendship.” As co-star Noomi Rapace describes it, “It’s L.A. Right now. It just happens to be orcs and elves.” If you’re confused by that, you’re not alone. But this new featurette does its damnedest to lay it out for you: This is a story about racial tensions (but with orcs and elves), a classic buddy cop flick (but with orcs and elves), and a police thriller (you know, with orcs and elves).

Netflix’s What Happened to Monday answers the question, What if Orphan Black, but with Noomi Rapace? The plot’s a little different — these identical gals are sisters, not clones, and it takes place in a future where a strict one child policy is enforced — but finally we get to see what would happen if we put a bunch of Noomi Rapaces in one room together.

There’s some bio-terrorism a-brewin’ in London, and it’s up to Noomi Rapace to track down the no-noodniks responsible and dispense some harsh and uncompromising justice. Nope, it’s not another iteration of the Swedish Girl With the Dragon Tattoo franchise, it’s the new trailer for the upcoming espionage thriller Unlocked. Rapace plays a stone-cold killer who does everything Jason Bourne did (but in chunky heels) as she shoots her way through the United Kingdom’s capital city to disarm a viral germ bomb of some manner or another. It’s a glowing green liquid in a syringe; whatever it is, we know it’s not good news.

One of the few upsides of living in our current political climate is the uptick in dystopian film and television we’re about to see. From the successful run of The Handmaid’s Tale on Hulu to HBO’s planned adaptation of Fahrenheit 451, we are quite possibly entering in a new golden age of dystopian fiction, with every screenwriter who ever jotted down an idea about a broken society pitching their brains out with their original idea. That may not seem like much of a silver lining, but hey, it’s better than nothing!

‘Alien: Covenant’ Prologue Reveals What Happened to Dr. Shaw
“Wait, but what happened to Dr. Elizabeth Shaw?” That’s been one of our biggest questions in the months leading up to the release of Alien: Covenant, which introduces us to a new crew and inches ever closer to the events in Ridley Scott’s sci-fi horror classic. In honor of Alien Day, 20th Century Fox has released a new prologue that helps bridge the gap between Prometheus and Covenant…and reveals the fate of Noomi Rapace’s Dr. Shaw.

In space… no one can hear your crackly John Denver records. The timeless country standard “Take Me Home, Country Road” provides an eerie soundtrack for the latest peek at Ridley Scott’s long-time-coming Alien prequel Covenant. Over some rather breathtaking shots of a hostile, foreign world (no offense, New Zealand), we hear the familiar ode to the beauty of the American South, contrasting the harsh new climate with mental pictures of the gentle, rolling hills of West Virginia. Things get progressively creepier as the Xenomorph descends on our motley crew of intergalactic colonists, scaling their spacecraft and trying to get at the humans inside like they’re the filling of a delicious meaty empanada.
