Star Wars illustrator and designer Ralph McQuarrie is responsible for some of the most iconic imagery in the pop culture and the history of movies. McQuarrie designed the look of many of the Star Wars characters including Darth Vader, C-3PO, R2-D2 and the Stormtroopers, as well as locations like the Death Star and Tattooine. In fact, it was McQuarrie's artwork that eventually sold 20th Century Fox on the idea of letting George Lucas actually make a Star Wars movie.

Remember how so many Star Wars fans lost their minds when we first saw Kylo Ren’s bizarre hilted lightsaber in the trailer for Star Wars: Episode 7? Well, they’re about to lose ‘em all over again. Hasbro is introducing a new line of toys that will allow children (and their parents) to customize their own Jedi weapons. If you should a little hilt was crazy, then you probably aren’t prepared for what people will soon be able to create in their homes.

If you thought the time for ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ speculation had passed, you were wrong. We still don’t know much about J.J. Abrams’ mysterious first installment in the new trilogy, and while that first teaser did give us an idea about what we can expect visually, it didn’t provide context for much of what we were seeing. Speculation continues to run rampant, as do rumors, like the latest one that allegedly reveals who Domhnall Gleeson is playing in the film—and it’s kind of a big deal character.

Ever since the first trailer for ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ descended upon the world with the force of a Death Star beam obliterating Alderaan, the ‘Star Wars’ fandom has found no shortage of things to complain about. Chief among them: the strange, hilted lightsaber wielded by Kylo Ren, the mysterious baddie briefly glimpsed in the footage. Since everyone from Stephen Colbert to Ewan McGregor to your great aunt has expressed their opinion on this impractical/totally awesome weapon, it’s now time to hear from the man behind the madness, co-writer and director J.J.
