'Warcraft' Officially Reveals its Epic Cast of Characters

Just yesterday we brought you the first official teaser posters from Duncan Jones' adaptation of 'Warcraft' as the director hit Blizzard's annual BlizzCon convention to host a panel for his upcoming film. Jones recently wrapped filming on the project, and while little has been known about the adaptation, the director finally revealed the lineup of characters and divulged some plot details about the Alliance and the Horde.

The 'Warcraft' movie may be over a year away from release, but director Duncan Jones recently wrapped filming on the project and is heading into post-production, which means we'll begin to see some promotional materials trickle out -- like these first official posters, and a new website which asks which side you're fighting for in the new film based on the hit game.

Though the film may have blinked when 'Star Wars: Episode 7' took its release date, Duncan Jones' 'Warcraft' has at least one leg up over the new 'Star Wars' film: It actually has a cast. Ben Foster, Paula Patton, Dominic Cooper, , Toby Kebbel, and Rob Kazinsky have all signed on for the film.

Duncan Jones' 'Warcraft' was originally scheduled for release on December 18, 2015, which it called before 'Star Wars: Episode 7' announced when it would be hitting theaters (many thought the new 'Star Wars' would go with mid-May as with all the previous films). But now that 'Episode 7' has picked the same weekend, 'Warcraft' blinked and has moved to March 11, 2016.

Over the weekend, director Duncan Jones paid a visit to BlizzCon 2013 and revealed some concept art from his upcoming 'Warcraft' film to a room full of players and fans. The director also divulged a few details about the plot and casting of this ambitious project, based on the popular online roleplaying game. We've been curious to see even just one bit of artwork -- or anything -- to give us an idea as to how Jones is approaching the world of 'Warcraft,' and this sneak peek is quite satisfying.

With 'Warcraft' slowly but surely coming together for a Winter 2015 release, it's good to hear that one of the four leads has been cast, and that the Duncan Jones-helmed film is going with an outside-the-box choice. Travis Fimmel, who's best known for the History Channel series 'Vikings,' is in talks to play the lead.

'Warcraft' is looking to join the fray of 2015's big movies, and has announced a release date of December 18, 2015.That's a bold move as 'Star Wars: Episode 7' has yet to announce their release date yet, but word was that the film was eying a December launch. Might there be a release date war for December 2015 already?

To be completely honest, we almost forgot entirely about the upcoming 'Warcraft' movie until director Duncan Jones came out on that San Diego Comic-Con stage to present some test footage. Now a few months later, we finally have some idea as to who might lead this film.
