'Hotel Transylvania' Sneak Peek: Previewing Adam Sandler's Monster Comedy

The inventive and antic animation of Genndy Tartakovsky has been blowin' our mind during hazy late nights for years. The creator of 'Samurai Jack' and 'Dexter's Laboratory' as well as the first (and still superior) 'Star Wars: Clone Wars' has a wide palate (he's responsible for much of the look of 'The Powerpuff Girls' as well as the gruesome and bloody prologue to last year's 'Priest') but has always worked in traditional 2D animation.
With 'Hotel Transylvania' he's taking his first step into the feature film-friendly world of 3D computer imaging and the result, based on the selected scenes shown at Sony HQ in New York, are exciting. It's nothing too underground or subversive, but compared to factory line junk like 'The Lorax' it is quite an artistic achievement.

Give us this week our dose of ridiculous. Forgive these sad little people, dear internet lords, for they know not how ridiculous they are. This week's installment brings us HBO apologizing for George W. Bush (and not how you might think), Adam Sandler continuing to make fools of us all, and a new show on Lifetime -- the latter of which sounds pretty ridiculous before you even know what it is.

'That's My Boy' Review

I'm not sure exactly when it happened, but at some point along the way the words “A Happy Madison Production” stopped meaning a silly, fun, dirty-at-times but altogether entertaining movie and started meaning avoid at all costs. I'd have to look at the facts and figures but by the time Adam Sandler was sitting in a kiddie pool full of blue pee, I gave up on him.
'That's My Boy' has more than enough pee jokes of its own (so much pee) but it's also got something else – Adam Sandler playing a character. It takes about sixty seconds with him as Bud-swilling, foul-mouthed, walking id Donnie Berger to - well, maybe admire is the wrong word, so let's say eagerly - sign on for a movie-length ride.

'That's My Boy' hits theaters tomorrow, and in the film Andy Samberg plays Todd, the son of Donny (Adam Sandler), a crude, obnoxious guy who became famous as a teen for bedding his teacher. Todd was the result of that statutory affair, and fled home (and his insane dad) at 18 to start his life over. But when the washed-up, beer-guzzling Donny gets into some trouble with the IRS, he tracks Todd down on the eve of his wedding and shenanigans ensue.
We spoke with Samberg today about his role in the movie, crossing over from 'SNL,' working with one of his comedy heroes, and yes, 'MacGruber 2.'

From what we’re hearing (and what we’ve been able to see), Sean Anders’ ‘That’s My Boy’ is Adam Sandler’s full-fledged foray into hard-R comedy. F-bombs, gratuitous nudity … by all accounts, it’s Sandler doing the polar opposite of ‘Jack & Jill.’ And that’s a good thing. The latest red-band trailer continues to sell that line. We have it for you below.

How Do You Make 'Grown Ups 2' Sound Less Appealing? Just Add Taylor Lautner

'Grown Ups 2' will bring back everyone from the first film, including Salma Hayek, Kevin James, Chris Rock, Maya Rudolph, Adam Sandler, Rob Schnieder and David Spade, but it looks like - to spice things up - they're adding a new cast member to the mix: 'Twilight' Star Taylor Lautner.
