Rumors of the Guardians of the Galaxy crew appearing in Avengers: Infinity War have been circulating in increments: First there were reports (later confirmed) of Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord joining the lineup, followed by rumors of Rocket Raccoon and Groot, and, more recently, an alleged casting call revealing that the entire team would be crossing over for Marvel’s next big Avengers event. Now, Guardians star Zoe Saldana has confirmed her involvement in Infinity War, and while we wait to find out if the rest of her co-stars are joining her, Marvel has released two new images from their next outing.

In Morten Tyldum’s Passengers, Chris Pratt’s Jim and Jennifer Lawrence’s Aurora Lane are the only passengers on a spaceship who wake up 90 years too soon. Alone and stranded in space, Aurora and Jim go on dinner dates, take late night dips in the pool, and quickly fall in love. Sounds sweet, huh? Just look at the film’s marketing, in which Pratt adoringly gazes at the woman he loves. But Passengers has a much creepier and troubling premise buried beneath the veneer of a love story. Once you realize the film’s “twist,” those publicity photos reveal Pratt’s character for the creep he really is.

When it comes to online movie polls, which ones do you think the public is usually most excited for: little indie pictures or huge superhero/sci-fi/fantasy blockbusters? Spoiler alert— it’s the blockbusters. Shocking, I know. In Fandango’s year-end poll of the most anticipated movies of 2017, Star Wars: Episode VIII, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and the live-action Beauty and the Beast took the top spots.

We already know Avengers: Infinity War is going to be huge, with the current MCU arcs building toward a crossover event that promises to be the studio’s biggest yet — even bigger than Captain America: Civil War. According to previous comments made by directors Joe and Anthony Russo, Infinity War will feature dozens of characters from the Marvel universe, including Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord and Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel. As for the rest of the lineup, we can only make educated guesses, but a new casting call may have spilled the beans.

You’ve got two of the world’s biggest movie stars, a sci-fi, romance hybrid, and a release date right in time for the holiday season. A perfect recipe for success, yes? So it would seem for the new Jennifer Lawrence, Chris Pratt-led Passengers. Yet with every new trailer, I’m getting increasingly convinced that Sony has no idea what to do with this film or how to market it. The third trailer was released online today, and dear lord in space heaven, it is bad.

Somewhere, James Cameron is shaking his head and chuckling to himself, wondering why the heck he didn’t think of setting Titanic in space because it seems so obvious now — especially with this new trailer for Passengers, the Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence sci-fi romance that looks like it was made with an algorithm. Take the two most beloved actors on the planet, put them in a shiny, futuristic sci-fi movie and smoosh their faces together while making kissy noises. Cha-ching.
