Star Wars Celebration is set to kick off in just a few days, and with the 40th anniversary of the iconic franchise on the horizon, fans are expecting this year’s festivities to be extra special — but it looks like we won’t have to wait until later this week for major news from a galaxy far, far away. Good Morning America is teasing a big Star Wars announcement for tomorrow’s episode, but what could it possibly be? The first teaser for The Last Jedi? A revelation about one of your favorite characters?

While we wait for the first teaser trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which should be arriving in the next couple of months (more on that in a minute), some footage was recently screened for Disney shareholders. That footage won’t be released online, but one reporter in attendance was kind enough to share a few interesting details — it’s not much, but it should keep your spirits up until the first trailer debuts.

Daisy Ridley’s coronation as the next major movie star is continuing right on schedule. She got her big break as the face of the new trilogy of Star Wars sequels, parlayed that into a couple of quick but low-profile voice acting gigs as the narrator of The Eagle Huntress and a character in the English dub of Studio Ghibli’s Only Yesterday, and landed a prospective prestige role in Kenneth Branagh’s Murder on the Orient Express remake. All that’s missing is the star vehicle independent of a major pre-existing franchise, something a studio can build specifically for her from the ground up.

The official title of the next chapter in the Star Wars saga was announced this morning, and there’s already been a little speculation among fans about who The Last Jedi might be — is it Luke Skywalker (the obvious choice) or Rey (the second-most obvious choice)? As it turns out, we already know, and by “we,” we mean you do, too…unless you didn’t see The Force Awakens. But observant fans will tell you that there may be a third option — one that’s less apparent, but a little more intriguing.

Like the official subtitle, plot details for Star Wars: Episode VIII are still unknown…well, mostly. We do know that it picks up right where The Force Awakens left off and that most of our favorite characters from J.J. Abrams’ film will return. Now that we've turned our calendars over to 2017, the sequel is just 11 months away from hitting theaters, which means we’re about to learn a whole lot about Episode VIII — starting with some new story info from director Rian Johnson.
