Edgar Ramirez’s Elf Look in David Ayer’s ‘Bright’ Cannot Be Explained With Mere Words

Pretty much everything about David Ayer’s new Netflix movie Bright causes one to tilt one’s head to the side while squinting one’s eyes and making a noncommittal “huh” sound. It seems like the kind of story that would feel more at home in the early 2000s gritty teen urban fantasy era when authors like Holly Black and Cassandra Clare were in their heyday. But Ayer, never one to realize when material seems dated (see: the extremely Hot Topic aesthetic of Suicide Squad), is going full out with Bright, and a new image of Edgar Ramirez’ rather flamboyant elf character.

‘Gold’ Trailer: Matthew McConaughey Is Bald and Hunting For Gold

by Britt Hayes September 8, 2016 @ 9:01 AM
Gold is the title of Matthew McConaughey’s new movie — it also happens to be the color of the Oscar statue, which is fitting, as the latest effort from filmmaker Stephen Gaghan (Syriana) looks like it could make the beloved actor an awards season contender once again. The first trailer for the holiday season release has arrived, touting a bald and bold McConaughey as man desperate to strike it rich. Spoiler: He does, but that treasure comes at a cost (insert sad trombone).

‘Hands of Stone’ Trailer: Robert De Niro Trains the Perfect Fighter

To say that Robert De Niro needs a hit movie isn’t exactly true. De Niro has been responsible for so many iconic films and characters over his 50 years of acting that he has pretty much earned the right to do whatever he pleases. If he wants to make sex comedies with Zac Efron, he can make sex comedies with Zac Ephron. If wants to only pop in for guest appearances in David O. Russell films, well, hey, he can do that to.

The New ‘Point Break’ Trailer Pushes Remake Culture to the Breaking Point

by Jacob Hall September 17, 2015 @ 1:53 PM
The world wasn’t exactly crying out for a remake of Point Break, but here we are. We didn’t ask for a modern take on Kathryn Bigelow’s 1991 action semi-classic, but maybe we did something to deserve it. Then again, if the new trailer is any indication, we don’t know what anyone could have possibly done to deserve this movie happening to them.

Today’s word is Extreme. That’s the big word in the first trailer for the Point Break remake, based on Kathryn Bigelow’s action thriller classic starring Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze. Luke Bracey takes on the Reeves role with Edgar Ramirez in place of Swayze in the new film, which transforms the adrenaline junkie surfer bank robbers into extreme sports enthusiasts with extremist ideals.

One of the more curious remakes to emerge in recent years is the upcoming redo of Point Break, Kathryn Bigelow’s action classic which originally starred Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze. The pair have been replaced by Luke Bracey and Edgar Ramirez in the remake, which premiered its first photos and trailer at CinemaCon this week. The trailer hasn’t landed online yet, but you can check out the images to get your first peek at your new Bodhi and Johnny Utah.

Just last week we reported that the 'Point Break' remake suffered a blow, losing leading man Gerard Butler just weeks before the film was scheduled to begin shooting. But the production team hasn't wasted any time finding his replacement: Edgar Ramirez, star of the upcoming horror flick 'Deliver Us From Evil' (which just dropped a new spooky trailer today) will take Butler's place.

New 'Deliver Us From Evil' Trailer: Is This the Scariest Film of 2014?

The new 'Deliver Us From Evil' trailer is here and it's selling a film that could easily be the scariest release of 2014. A combination of police procedural and demonic possession movie, it looks like a fresh spin on material that's seen plenty of play in the past few years. Could this be the next 'The Conjuring'? That's high praise for a movie that doesn't hit theaters for another month and a half, but it looks like it could be.

'Deliver Us From Evil' Trailer: You Haven't Seen True Evil Just Yet

As films like 'The Conjuring' and 'The Last Exorcism' (Parts 1 and 2) tackled the exorcism/possession horror tale in new and, primarily in the case of the former, interesting ways, so too is 'Deliver Us From Evil,' the new trailer for which takes exorcism to the streets. If you can get past Eric Bana's New Yawkah accent and the fact that Olivia Munn is his wife, you'll be in for a scare or two.
