We Could’ve Seen ‘G.I. Joe’ Meet the ‘Transformers,’ and We Still Might

How do you save a franchise that never really took off? Combine it with another, bigger one from (technically) the same universe, of course! While Michael Bay has, uh, transformed Transformers into a billion-dollar industry with his live-action movies, G.I. Joe hasn’t exactly done as well. Apparently, there was talk at one point of joining the two franchises together in what would have been a beautiful, violent mess.

Soon You Can Own the Soundtracks to ‘G.I. Joe’, ‘Transformers’ and Other 80s TV Cartoons

by Chris Sims April 12, 2016 @ 4:00 PM | ComicsAlliance
I think the record will show that I'm a pretty big fan of Hasbro's cartoons from the '80s, and one of the things I love most about them is how great the soundtracks are. Not just the theme songs, but the incidental music that provides the background for Jem and the Holograms, or that smooth jazz version of the GI Joe theme that plays under the closing credits. Heck, even in the years before More Than Meets The Eye came along and made me stop hating the Transformers, I still had to admit that the music was pretty great. The only problem is that I can't listen to it whenever I want, but now, it looks like that problem might be coming to an end. Composer Robert J. Walsh has confirmed that he's remastering the soundtracks for the Hasbro shows, with plans for Sony to release high-end versions that will include new footage and artwork, too.

Hasbro Cinematic Universe Will Team G.I. Joe, Micronauts, and More

by Matt Singer December 15, 2015 @ 10:28 AM
Remember when you were a kid, and you would play with all your different toys at the same time? You’d have the Ninja Turtles team up with the Ghostbusters to take down Hulk Hogan and Ultimate Warrior, and then they’d all get transported to the land of the Thundercats.

Yes, once a year, nearly every major toy, statue, replica and plush manufacturer releases a limited edition piece that can only be found on the floor of the San Diego Convention Center. Devoted fans, aficionados and (unfortunately) re-sellers have been eagerly awaiting the chance to be one of the fortunate few who are able to obtain some of the rarest and most-coveted collectibles to release in a calendar year. Now, with just one week to go, we've gotten almost every last company to reveal its biggest secrets. Collected here for you is a comprehensive list of not just what will be available, but where it will be available, and how much it will cost you (should prices have been provided). This is every comic book toy and collectible exclusive for San Diego Comic-Con 2015.

Announced yesterday, Hasbro and Disney have teamed for a new set of role-play toys for kids dubbed Disney Playmation. The toys combine wearable accessories with figures that interact with one another, and put the kids right in the action with heroes like Captain America, Iron Man and the Hulk. Of course, Disney has much more in mind for the upcoming playsets, including Star Wars and Frozen, but the Avengers-themed collection will be hitting stores first this year.

Paul Feig May Help Shape Play-Doh Into a Movie

by Britt Hayes April 2, 2015 @ 8:12 PM
Thanks to the success of The LEGO Movie, studios are rushing to turn all sorts of toys and games into new film franchises, taking a cue from Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s highly inventive approach with a toy series that allows for endless possibilities. Like LEGO, Play-Doh also offers limitless creative wonders…kind of. And Fox sees the potential (profits) in taking the toy clay from your child’s messy hands to the big screen.
