Following Disney’s acquisition of Lucasfilm, we began hearing rumors of plans for Indiana Jones 5. Those rumors were followed by more rumors suggesting that Disney was eyeing Chris Pratt to replace Harrison Ford as the new face of the franchise. Pratt eventually denied those rumors, while Lucasfilm said they are planning a sequel — they just don’t know when they’ll pull it together. And now even more rumors have emerged, suggesting that Disney is reportedly eyeing a 2018 release date.
Indiana Jones 5
When Disney made that big purchase of Lucasfilm way back when, not only did it encompass the beloved 'Star Wars' franchise, but also 'Indiana Jones,' the latter of which is easily forgettable as the long-gestating 'Indiana Jones 5' has shied away from headlines recently. However, with Disney set to distribute any potential new installments of the Harrison Ford-led films, more are likely on the way, but the latest word on the street is that Ford could bow out of the title role in favor of a younger newcomer to fill his shoes, perhaps even Bradley Cooper.
The primary cast of the original 'Star Wars' trilogy have all but guaranteed they'll be showing up in the J.J. Abrams-directed 'Star Wars: Episode 7,' though there was a question if Harrison Ford would return. The latest report is that not only will Ford be back, he may be in for all three films in the new trilogy. And supposedly part of the deal to get Han Solo to return involves work starting on 'Indiana Jones 5.'
