Currently there are two entirely different ‘Bourne’ franchises in the works in Hollywood. The first is the actual Bourne series (let’s call it Bourne Classic), with Matt Damon returning to the role of mentally-scarred super-spy Jason Bourne alongside director Paul Greengrass. The second is the sequel to 2012’s ‘The Bourne Legacy’ (a.k.a. Diet Bourne), which kept the franchise alive after Damon and Greengrass left by replacing Bourne with Jeremy Renner’s Aaron Cross, another traumatized government operative on the run. Universal previously planned to continue Cross’ adventures in a sequel directed by Justin Lin, but when Damon and Greengrass recently announced they would return for another ‘Bourne’ film (due in theaters on July 29, 2016) the second Cross movie was delayed.

Jeremy Renner would not make a very good spy. The guy can’t keep his mouth shut! If you’re doing something secretive, you’re supposed to keep quiet about it. But earlier today Renner teased something he’s doing for Marvel as Hawkeye, the master archer of the Avenger. And, really, Renner should know better because he works for S.H.I.E.L.D. (and as Jason Bourne’s replacement in ‘The Bourne Legacy’!)

‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ will undoubtedly be quite the spectacle, and it’s not the only huge movie Disney has lined up for 2015, either. The studio sent out a press release today detailing their major 2015 movie releases, and seeing all of those film titles on one list is kind of dizzying—like, Disney is going to make some big bank next year. Included in the release is a new sneak peek at ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron,’ which features the whole Avengers crew gathered in one place, and then some.

While everyone from Robert Downey, Jr. to Joss Whedon loudly wonders why Scarlett Johansson has not yet been given a solo 'Black Widow' movie, there's Hawkeye, the one character for whom no one is clamoring for a spinoff. And that includes star Jeremy Renner himself.

If you took a straw poll among movie fans and asked them who their favorite Avenger is, chances are strong that Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye would rank last. Not that it's Renner's fault -- he was essentially a supporting character in the first film (under hypnosis by Loki for the majority of that time) and really hasn't had a chance to really show off his superhero skills yet. However, his smaller shadow on the Marvel cinematic universe has led to much discussion about his character moving forward. Namely, will Hawkeye even live to see the closing credits of 'Avengers 2'?

It's inevitable: one day there will be an 'Avengers' reboot. It's hard to think of now, as 'Avengers 2' hasn't even hit theaters and Phase 3 of Marvel's Cinematic Universe hasn't even begun yet. But, once Robert Downey, Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans and Jeremy Renner all play through their contracts, Marvel is going to have to start over. Now, we don't think Marvel would ever reboot 'The Avengers' as a 70s detective TV series, but if they did? It'd look a lot like this...

While many people ponder the potential of a Black Widow spinoff at Marvel, few have wondered when we're getting a 'Hawkeye' movie. That's not to say that we don't love Jeremy Renner's sharpshooter, it's just that he hasn't gotten much to do in the Marvel universe so far. That may change as Renner says there are "rumblings" of a major role for Hawkeye in 'Captain America 3'.

During Marvel Studio's big presentation at Comic-Con 2014, nearly the entire 'Avengers 2' cast came out on the Hall H stage to tease their next big battle and screen the first footage for the fans. In a move that shouldn't surprise too many people, Universal announced that the sequel to 'The Bourne Legacy,' the untitled 'Bourne 5,' has been delayed to 2016. The film, the fifth in the long-running and widely liked franchise, was originally set to arrive in theaters on August 14, 2015. Now, it is set to open on July 15, 2016.
