Comedy Central's adaptation of classic FunnyorDie sketch "Drunk History" exceeded our wildest expectation across its first season, bringing in countless celebrities both to inebriatedly narrate and star in their best recollections of world events. When we talked to Johnny Knoxville about 'Bad Grandpa,' he told us there would be a semi-sequel movie, and now there's footage from that film, 'Bad Grandpa .5.' Here Knoxville and Oscar winner Spike Jonze go to couples therapy as Knoxville's Irving Zissman has a sexual request that Jonze's Gloria doesn't know if she wants to fulfill.
If you couldn't get enough of Johnny Knoxville's wacky hijinks in 'Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa,' we've got great news: there's more! Of course there is. It's a 'Jackass' production, so you know there were just piles of additional footage waiting around to be slapped onto the DVD and Blu-ray release. And according to this trailer, Irving and Billy got into all kinds of shenanigans we didn't see in the final film.
When you think about teenaged mutant turtles with martial arts skills, the first thing that comes to mind is 'Jackass' and when you think about wise, ninja-training mutant rats, the first thing you think about is 'Monk.' Therefore, it's totally and entirely acceptable that Johnny Knoxville has been cast as the voice of Leonardo and Tony Shalhoub as Master Splinter in the upcoming 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.'
If the sudden appearance of a surprisingly stretchy prosthetic penis trapped inside a soda machine at the hands of a horny old widower in Jeff Tremaine’s ‘Bad Grandpa’ doesn’t drive you out of the theater, you’ll likely do just fine with the latest entry from the ‘Jackass’ crew and their ever-shrinking bag of gross-out gags.
After all, Johnny Knoxville’s eponymous “bad grandpa” Irving Zisman starts humping the vending machine within the film’s first five minutes, making it crystal clear what sort of production we’re in for. 'Bad Grandpa' is the latest from the creative team behind ‘Jackass,’ taking one of their favorite character creations on the road for one of the most ill-fated and weirdly amusing road trips in recent cinematic memory.
Just don't get punched in the balls.
It's rare that thought would go through your head as you prepare to spend a weekend covering a movie. I mean, interviewing Tommy Lee Jones might feel like getting punched in the balls, but never a movie star actually punching your nuts. Then again there aren't many movies like 'Bad Grandpa.' The film stars Johnny Knoxville and is produced by many of his 'Jackass' cohorts, notorious for their behind-the-scenes nut-punches.
Armed with the knowledge that a potential smack to the groin lurked around every corner, I packed my bags to spend a weekend in Vegas, Grandpa Style. Could I survive a weekend with Johnny Knoxville and Team Jackass?
Although the traditional formula seems to have officially come to an end, the spirit of 'Jackass' lives on in 'Bad Grandpa,' which sees the indestructible Johnny Knoxville creating all kinds of uncomfortable situations and causing himself all kinds of physical harm while buried under several layers of old man prosthetics. The new red band trailer confirms that this movie is exactly what you think it is. Whether that's a good thing or a bad thing is entirely up to you.
Call it, 'Worse Grandpa.'
Like they have done previously with the 'Jackass' series of films, Johnny Knoxville confirmed to us this weekend that a 'Bad Grandpa 1.5' is on the way that would be a sequel made up of parts that didn't make it into the original. And? It's going to star two Oscar-nominees.
