Remember how, back when 'Star Wars: Episode 7' announced its primary cast members, one of the primary complaints was how few female roles there were. There are certain things that a big Oscar win and the declaration that you are the world's most beautiful person can get you -- things like, well, an Oscar statuette, the respect of your peers, a cool magazine cover, continued recognition, good publicity -- but there's one thing those honors can't earn anyone if they have a slightly different name. You know it. 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' host Jimmy Kimmel knows it. Lupita Nyong'o knows it.

From those getting their long-awaited big breaks to newcomers making a splash, this next heap should be closely watched come Oscar time and in the years to come.
