It’s hard to imagine that Katie Featherstone has been scaring us silly since 2007, but the actress has been the one mainstay in every single 'Paranormal Activity' film since the very beginning. In the latest film, 'Paranormal Activity 4' (on Blu-ray and DVD January 29), Featherstone’s screen time is significantly smaller, but the importance and weight of her role is perhaps bigger than ever.
We recently sat down with the actress to discuss the 'Paranormal Activity' series, her dance moves, and how much she misses 'The River.'
When a franchise is done as cheaply as the 'Paranormal Activity' films it doesn't matter if audiences didn't really care for the latest entry, 'Paranormal Activity 4.' What matter is that the films are done for under ten million dollars, and don't advertise too much. That's why, for next Halloween, we're getting 'Paranormal Activity 5.'
To date 'Paranormal Activity 4' has made over $130 million in worldwide box-office. Not bad, but that doesn't mean everyone is a fan. Exhibit A: the French. 'Paranormal Activity 4' opened in French theaters two weeks ago and was met with some...unhappy audiences. Audiences that expressed their frustration by looting the candy counters, verbally assaulting the workers and, yes, using the movie theater as a bathroom.
The ever popular 'Paranormal Activity' movie franchise is feared by many, and for the fourth installment, some (including us) have a hard time even watching all the trailers and clips. So just imagine how hard it is for children as young as 5 years old to sit through the film!
In what was one of the cruelest turn of events, an audience filled with little kids at the Cineworld Cinema in Nottingham, England expecting to see a showing of 'Madagascar 3' was instead faced with frightening footage of 'Paranormal Activity 4.'
Another Halloween, another 'Paranormal Activity.' Another 'Paranormal Activity,' another large opening weekend. But all is not well in the state of Denmark (and by Denmark, we mean "the 'Paranormal Activity' franchise"): the fourth film in the series opened to significantly less than the previous entries.
With 'Paramount Activity 4' now in theaters, many fans who stuck around for the post-credits scene are wondering...what exactly was that? Well, we have some answers and can tell you where that scene will lead.
'Paranormal Activity 5' is happening - that much we know. The 'Paranormal Activity' franchise is a huge hit at Halloween and with the latest sequel 'Paranormal Activity 4' now in theaters (and likely to do big business), the found footage action has returned.
Though the story expands to add seemingly unrelated characters, it once again fails to fill in all the gaps of our understanding how the 'Paranormal' films all fits together. So how can next year's 'Paranormal Activity 5' answer our questions about this mysterious and frightening world?
The capper to the second-to-last night of Fantastic Fest 2012 was a "work-in-progress" screening of 'Paranormal Activity 4,' the latest installment of the insanely lucrative found footage horror franchise. Since the movie is unfinished, it would be unfair to write a review.
Here, instead, are some notes on the film and the screening:
A new 'Paranormal Activity 4' clip has jump-scared its way online, this one called "Levitation." True to its title, we get a peek at the young girl at the center of the film levitating -- and it's safe to say that it's not of her own free will. Check it out after the break!
The ad campaign for 'Paranormal Activity 4' has been assuring us that "All the activity has led to this," which can only mean that this is the final installment of the franchise, no matter how much money it makes... Ha, just kidding. The activity will probably continue to lead us through several more sequels, we're sure.
In any event, the latest TV spot for 'Paranormal Activity 4' introduces us -- sort of -- to Robbie, a creepy young fellow whose presence brings about some supernatural occurrences for his new neighbors. Check it out after the break.
