Our first look at Katherine Waterston’s character in Alien: Covenant was a bit shadowy, but the latest photo from the set offers a much better sneak peek at the actress’ new hero — and she’s sporting a very familiar look. Ridley Scott celebrated the end of production on his upcoming Alien prequel by sharing a new image, in which he poses opposite Waterston in what could just as easily be a Calvin Klein ad.

Although Noomi Rapace’s Dr. Elizabeth Shaw was one of the few survivors of Ridley Scott’s Prometheus, the prequel to Alien (and predecessor to the upcoming Alien: Covenant), reports from the production have repeatedly claimed Rapace would not reprise her role for the sequel. Back in January, Scott told the press that Shaw wouldn’t appear in Alien: Covenant, which is set 10 years after the events of Prometheus, when a new crew of doomed astronauts stumble upon a paradise planet whose sole inhabitant is David, Michael Fassbender’s robot character from Prometheus. There had been some talk about Rapace “briefly” reprising her role, but then Scott’s claimed that she would not.

This new set photo from Alien: Covenant isn’t going to blow you away, unless you’re particularly fond of images in which directors do what they do best — you know, direct. But it does give us a blurry, slightly-out-of-focus look at Michael Fassbender, lurking in the background while Ridley Scott calls the shots. And it gives us a new photo to use in articles about Ridley Scott. We all win here.

The first glimpses from the set of Ridley Scott’s Prometheus sequel (and Alien prequel) Alien: Covenant keep coming quicker, like drips of acid from the gaping maw of a xenomorph hiding in a builkhead. We already saw a picture of the crew uniforms (along with a patch sporting the name of infamous Alien corporation, Weyland-Yutani), plus a few other scattered photos of abject and unspeakable horror. Hey, it’s an Alien movie. That comes with the territory.

Ridley Scott is currently filming Alien: Covenant in Australia, and while we have yet to see the first official image from the upcoming Prometheus sequel, Michael Fassbender has been offering up a few ideas of what we can expect — mostly in terms of production design, which he’s compared to Scott’s sci-fi masterpiece Blade Runner. But some new set photos have popped up online to give us our first real look at Covenant, and they are somewhat unnerving.

Ridley Scott’s Prometheus was a bit divisive, to say the least, so when the director announced plans for a new trilogy of Alien prequels, it left fans with some big questions. We’ve gotten answers to a few of them (no, Noomi Rapace isn’t returning; yes, we will see the origins of the Xenomorph), and though he’s not allowed to reveal much about Alien: Covenant, Michael Fassbender is happy to shed a little more light on the upcoming prequel.
