A remake of Road House is a little questionable, but when you throw UFC badass Ronda Rousey into the role originated by Patrick Swayze, things get a bit interesting. And things just got a whole lot more interesting as the project has found an unlikely director in Nick Cassavetes, son of iconic director John Cassavetes and director of…The Notebook. Of all things.
Now that Ronda Rousey has officially dominated the UFC, she’s ready to put Hollywood in a submission hold next. The actress previously set up a biopic at Paramount that she also plans on starring in, and now comes word that she’s ready to take over a classic action movie. Rousey will reportedly star in a gender-swapped Road House remake where she’d take over for the late Patrick Swayze.
While you're sitting around the Thanksgiving dinner table with your family next week, we're not sure whether or not you'll want to thank MGM for this bit of news: the studio is remaking 'Road House,' the 80s classic starring Patrick Swayze and Kelly Lynch, with director Rob Cohen -- a name you'll recognize as the director of the first 'Fast and Furious' movie, as well as the Vin Diesel action vehicle 'xXx.' It could be worse?
We here at the Weekly Dose of Ridiculous want you to know that we value your integrity as a pop culture enthusiast. That's why we've gathered the most ridiculous stories of the week in one convenient place for your reading pleasure. Get comfortable because it's getting absurd around here with 'Gangster Squad' reshoots, a 'Road House' remake starring Guy Fieri, and 'ALF' is back... in movie form.
If you're a studio executive with cash to spare, someone is selling a 'Road House' remake script on Craigslist. But that's not all -- the writer would like TV personality Guy "I wear sunglasses on the back of my head because I have never known real love" Fieri to star in this thing, and has even offered a sample of the opening scene, which is about as douchey as you can imagine.
