October is upon us, which means we've got some delightfully scary movies hitting theaters, but it also means we're approaching awards season. So there's some serious contenders getting releases as well, like Ben Affleck's 'Argo' and the Wachowski's 'Cloud Atlas.' Scary or serious this month? Why not both? Treat yourselves!
'Breaking Bad' was a pretty big turning point for both Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul. Though Cranston had already racked up a following from his role on 'Malcolm in the Middle' and his vast list of supporting characters on the big screen, it was Paul who really went from being a semi-unknown actor to getting a mainstream fan base. Now his latest project 'Smashed,' of which we're already fans, is hitting theaters this October, and you can actually see bits of his performance (rather than just reading about it) in the all-new trailer.
Here's what a jerk might think looking in on an AA meeting. "Why do they each have to get up and speak? They're all a bunch of drunks who hit rock bottom, ruined their lives and are now struggling to get their act together, right? We know the drill."
Those who've lived through it (or studied it) understand that "sharing" is a key part of recovery, and that each story is unique. 'Smashed,' an independently produced recovery tale poised to launch Mary Elizabeth Winstead as an absolute A-lister, is a remarkable piece of work. It is sad, funny and wise. There's nothing in it that you haven't seen before, but to bear witness is a total emotional workout and a journey absolutely worth taking.
